How I started out:

AIOP began as a name and a kind of shield behind which artist Suzanne Walsh hid as she littered the world with re-purposed typewriters, bikes and other various “reclaimed sculpture” leaving her mark by abandoning her work in cities from Prague to New York to Los Angeles.

What I have been doing lately:

Over the past 5 years, Ashes In Orange Peels has evolved to become part pop-up gallery, fine arts collective, creative think-tank and record label with the release of Predator Instinct, a 6 track EP featuring musicians Joy Shannon and Will Morrison.
_
My greatest love is to collaborate with musicians and fellow artists. All of my experience in writing, photography, graphic design, online marketing and gallery administration is applied on a daily basis to the business of art. I contribute to a number of Orange County based arts organizations including the OC Art Blog and ISM: a community project. Ongoing personal projects include Together Magazine and AIOP Recordings.

Presently I am working on a collection of (very) short stories about Southern California to be published through Black Hill Press.

Thank you for reading!

Sincerely,

Suzanne Walsh aka Ashes In Orange Peels

“Here’s what I think, Mr. Wind-Up Bird,” said May Kasahara. “Everybody’s born with some different thing at the core of their existence. And that thing, whatever it is, becomes like a heat source that runs each person from the inside. I have one too, of course. Like everybody else. But sometimes it gets out of hand. It swells or shrinks inside me, and it shakes me up. What I’d really like to do is find a way to communicate that feeling to another person. But I can’t seem to do it. They just don’t get it. Of course, the problem could be that I’m not explaining it very well, but I think it’s because they’re not listening very well. They pretend to be listening, but they’re not, really. So I get worked up sometimes, and I do some crazy things.”
